Buffy Sainte-Marie

Buffy Sainte-Marie does not fit the traditional musical mould.

Internationally recognized she a First Nations musician – the Cree Nation – a major singer-songwriter, a fierce social activist and super creative.

Her music has been recorded by a who’s who of the music world – Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Joe Crocker, Barbara Streisand, Roberta Flack, Glen Campbell, among others.

In 1982 she became the only indigenous person to win an Oscar.

Her song, Universal Soldier, is considered the definitive anti-war-anthem of the 20th. century.

Her paintings are vivid, memorable, inspiring – dealing with indigenous culture and experience.
