It happens every Sunday.
A group of everyday men and women get together in Harlem, New York.
The place – a number of Harlem churches.
The reason?
These men and women belong to the choirs of the churches of Harlem and Sunday is the day when they belt out gospel music to their congregations.
But there has been one gospel choir that stood out among all of them – the Harlem Gospel Choir.
We had the privilege of hearing the choir on one of our periodic holidays in New York.
What an experience, what a treat, memorable beyond compare.
Years later the choir went beyond Harlem – rising to world-wide prominence – performing all over the world.
The choir consists of 40 members, ranging in age from 21 to 51.
And here is the choir singing a couple of their great songs – so give a listen.
