Street food is a many splendoured thing.

It’s delicious, cheap, readily available, and available in most parts of the world.

Today we feature the great street food we have enjoyed from all over Europe – concluding our three-part series on the best street from all over the world.

Florence – Italy

Panini – The famous panino, or Italian pressed sandwich, makes the perfect street food — a few pieces of meat, cheese, or greens stuffed between two slices of bread, Schiacciata farcita, or roll, and you’re off and running.

Paris – France

Crepes – Hailing from the region of Brittany, crepes are thin, delicate pancakes made from a batter of flour, eggs, milk, and butter. Traditionally served with a variety of sweet or savory fillings, these delectable treats have become a staple at French street markets.

London – England

Fish And Chips – The English kind – either haddock or cod – differs in terms of ingredients, preparation, and flavour profiles compared to their Irish counterparts.

The use of a beer batter adds a richer more complex flavour, the use of additional spices such as cayenne pepper, paprika, or curry powder, giving it a slightly different flavour.

Rome – Italy

Suppli – These delicious little morsels of – risotto – cooked in tomato sauce – once done a piece of melted mozzarella cheese is added, then shaped into balls, coated with breadcrumbs, and deep fried in olive oil, become a mouthful of delicious goodness.

Dublin – Ireland

Fish And Chips – introduced by Jewish immigrants from England, dating back to the 19th. century, it quickly became a staple of Irish street food.

Traditional methods are used to prepare this yummy delight – deep fried in a light batter consisting of flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, malt vinegar, all designed to bring out the natural flavours of the fish and the thick cut, twice fried, chips.

Berlin – Germany

Currywurst – A unique Berlin fast food dish, created after World War. It’s a typical German smoked sausage, either boiled or fried, then sliced, with a dollop of curry flavoured tomato sauce and French fries.
