Hilary Pecis’s paintings are vibrant, detailed and colourful.
Her art aims to evoke a sense of joy and appreciation for the everyday magic found in ordinary objects, in everyday life.
There is a focus on domestic interiors, landscapes and still lifes, characterized by bold, rich, saturated colours, geometric patterns and strong linework.
Many of her pieces are a reflection of where she was born, California and where she now resides, Los Angeles.

Flowers in all their variations play a large part in her art.

Pecis’s work is deeply personal, often drawing from her own experiences and surroundings.
Often she uses her phone as the starting and reference point for her art, snapping everyday life pictures as she goes about her daily life, transforming the familiar scenes to canvas into vivid explorations of colour and form – celebrating the beauty of the everyday.
Her art has been shown internationally – New York, London, Tokyo, Beijing, Los Angeles, and is held in permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
She is also the co-founder of the Binder of Women, a collective of female artists based in the Los Angeles area. “I find that there is a lot of freedom within the parameters of the still life,” Pecis told Artsy, an art publication.
“It is a place to start, but there are infinite possibilities.”
