Tasting Notes
Fabulous steak dinner for two.
This is a symphony of bold flavours – the steak juicy with that rich beef taste, the veggies sweet and luscious, the potatoes creamy, the salad fresh and bright, a complement to the richness of the steak, the fruit salad bright and light.
What You Need
1 pound ribeye steak.
Twelve cherry tomatoes.
Two red peppers.
Small nugget potatoes about 15.
Four to five sprigs parsley.
Three garlic cloves.
1 tablespoon regular oil.
3 tablespoons olive oil.
1 tablespoon vinegar, any kind.
Salt and pepper.
Two small cucumbers.
1/4 of a white onion.
2 medium-sized tomatoes.
8 large strawberries.
Six blackberries.
1 tablespoon sugar.
Equipment
1 pot large enough to hold the potatoes.
1 colander.
1 frying pan.
1 plate.
Foil, enough to cover a plate on which the steaks will rest.
Method
The Potatoes
Take two parsley sprigs and chop up, reserve the other two sprigs for decoration.
Place the potatoes in the pot, add enough cold water and bring to a boil, lower heat to medium, cooking will take. Once done drain them with a colander.
Then place them in a bowl, add the butter, season with salt and pepper, add the chopped parsley, mix well and cover the bowl with foil to keep the potatoes warm.
The Steak
Trim the fat from the steak and place in a frying pan over medium heat to render out the fat. This will take about eight minutes.
The fat will be delicious for cooking your steak and the vegetables.
Everything will taste much better than if it was cooked in olive oil.
Take out the non-rendered fat from the frying pan.
Place the steaks into the frying pan with the fat from the steaks.
Each steak will take 4 mins in total for rare, 5-6 mins in total for medium and 8-10 mins for well done.
Once done take your steaks out of the frying pan, put on a plate and cover with foil and let the steaks rest for about five minutes.
Now chop up the garlic, tomatoes and red peppers and then add to cook in the frying pan for about five minutes. At the end add a splash of red wine vinegar into the frying pan and swoosh the vegetable medley around a few times.

Take your cooked nugget potatoes and put them on a serving platter, scatter the chopped chives over them, plus a bit of butter.
Take the veggies and place on the platter.
Cut up the steak, against the grain, in long slices and place on the platter.
Season everything with salt and pepper to taste.
The Salad
Cut up your tomatoes into bite-sized portions.
Slice your cucumbers.
Cut up your onion into small slices and then cut up again into small pieces.
Mix everything in a bowl.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add three tablespoons of olive oil.
One tablespoon of any kind of vinegar.
Mix everything.
The Dessert
Take a small bowl.
Cut up your strawberries into bite-sized portions.
Add your whole blackberries and strawberries into the bowl, sprinkle with the sugar. Mix well.
Let stand for 20 minutes, but every five minutes mix the fruit.
Presto, you are ready to plate.
