World famous – Ipanema Beach – popularized by the song “The Girl from Ipanema,” always included in the “Best Beaches in the World”, list.

Ipanema, for the residents of the Rocinha favela, is but one one kilometre from the beach and overlooks it.

Rocinha Favela

Favela’s are colourful shanty towns, some are dangerous, while others – Rocinha – are safe, to the point where tourists freely roam throughout it.
Rocinha is considered one of Rio’s safest favela’s – popular with tourists visiting it on their own or taking a tour. The population is estimated at between 100,000 to 200,000 people, living in a crammed, steep and rugged landscape of 0.80) square miles. 
The fact that the nearest beach only is one kilometre away from a beach is considered a plus by its residents – allowing them to escape from Rocinha and enjoy a great beach.y

Sugar Loaf Mountain

An adventure and experience not to miss.

Take a glassed-in cable car for a ride that will take you 1,299 feet above sea level.

At the top the unparalleled view of Rio de Janeiro is superb and out of this world.

Christ The Redeemer

It’s the figure that dominates Rio’s skyline.
The iconic Christ the Redeemer statue can be seen from just about anywhere in the city.

Located on top of Corcovado Mountain, the 124 foot-tall sculpture reigns supreme – the world’s largest Art Deco statue.

A train will take you up to the top.

Tijuca National Park

It’s the largest urban rainforest in the world – Tijuca National Park – 7,907 acres of lush rainforest.

And it’s a mere 45 minutes from Ipanema Beach.

The park is stunning – endless hiking trails, gushing waterfalls (30 of them), scenic lookouts, lofty mountain peaks, stately, elegant old buildings, bio-diverse plant life everywhere.

Lapa

Rio is comprised of many different districts, each with their own unique atmosphere and attractions.

Lapa is Rio’s bohemian district.

This is the area where you enjoy and savour great street parties, street dancing, great bars, great restaurants.

Rio Carnival

It is the biggest street party in the world.

For five days – up to two million people per day – are out on the streets enjoying magnificent parades, people dressed in fabulous costumes.

The Rio Carnival dates back to 1723 and people from all over the world come to see this unique spectacle of glitz and glamour.
