He was 42, she was 22. They divorced in 1939 but remarried a year later.

Art for Diego meant two things:

Showing the Mexican peasant, as noble and and blessed with innocence and beauty.

And the everyday Mexican struggling.

Fighting – seeking to change the political and societal oppression imposed by a ruling self-centred elite – his murals depicting the monumental struggles.

His influence is enormous. A major museum In Mexico City is a showcase of some of his art.
