Marc Chagall – a seminal artist of the 20th. century.
Born in Russia, Chagall spent most of his life in France.
Chagall stood out for two things – as an early modernist and a major Jewish artist.
Chagall worked in a variety of formats – painting, tapestries, prints, ceramics, stained glass, drawings, stage sets, book illustrations.

But he is best known and at his best through his dreamy, magical, colourful, romantic paintings of life in his native village, Vitebsk, Russia.
